Hikayetna/Syrian Stories

Hikayetna, meaning ‘our story’ in Arabic, is a non-political, independent project that brings people together to talk about the human side of Syrian society. For decades, freedom of expression has been absent from the Syrian society, but with words and stories, fear can turn into hope. The core idea is to encourage, develop, and aid communities in need, while promoting tolerance, love, humanity, and cultural values. Here, we bring to you selected stories from the project – in collaboration with the team at Hikayetna – to broaden and deepen our understanding of the Syrian society, in dark times of war and instability.
